Frankel Jags Women’s Tennis Notch First Win of the Season

The Frankel Jewish Academy women’s tennis team picked up their first victory of the season on Monday, defeating the Riverview Gabriel Richard Pioneers 5-3 in a hard-fought match at Drake Park in Farmington Hills.

Led by a trio of seniors, the Jags dominated singles play. Sarah Krivitchkin was steady and composed at #1 singles, winning 6-2, 6-2. Grace Kleinfeldt followed with a strong performance at #2 singles, posting a 6-3, 6-1 win. Lily Moss completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at #3 singles.

With the match tied at 4-3, all eyes turned to the #4 doubles pairing of sophomore Gillian Charnas and freshman Zoe Fish. The duo delivered under pressure, edging out their opponents in a thrilling match, 6-4, 6-6 (5), to secure the team's first win of the year.

The Jaguars will be back in action quickly, hosting Plymouth Christian at Drake Park. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Senior Night Showdown: Girls Tennis Team Battles Walled Lake Western

The Frankel Jewish Academy girls tennis team celebrated Senior Night at Drake Sports Park, honoring five dedicated seniors: Sophie Frank, Grace Kleinfeldt, Sarah Krivitchkin, Lilly Moss, and Scout Phillips. The team hosted a tough Walled Lake Western squad and, despite a valiant effort, fell by a final score of 6-2.

Several matches were tightly contested throughout the evening. Senior Sarah Krivitchkin led the way with a strong win at #1 singles, while fellow senior Grace Kleinfeldt followed with a victory at #2 singles. Lilly Moss put up a fierce fight at #3 singles, narrowly dropping her match in a close 6-3, 4-6 (10-4) battle.

In doubles action, the senior duo of Scout Phillips and Sophie Frank competed at #1 doubles, winning four games. Coach Monica praised the pair, noting, “They are really playing great and bonding as a team.” At #2 doubles, Zoe Fish and Kaiya Jackier also showed grit, playing well in a long, hard-fought match.

Coach Larry added, “The girls are really starting to play good tennis and the points are getting better.”

The team will return to the court on Monday, April 28, when they host Royal Oak Shrine in their next matchup.

FJA Jaguars Show Grit in Match Against South Lyon East

It was a picture-perfect spring afternoon at Drake Sports Park as the Frankel Jewish Academy Jaguars women’s tennis team hosted the Cougars of South Lyon East. Despite falling by a score of 8-0, the Jaguars displayed resilience, teamwork, and a competitive spirit throughout the match.

The contest featured a full lineup of singles and doubles play. Leading the charge at #1 singles was Sarah Krivitchkin, who set the tone with her focus and intensity. Grace Kleinfeldt followed in the #2 singles spot, while Lilly Moss and Emma Schuchman rounded out the singles play in the #3 and #4 positions, respectively.

In doubles action, the Jaguars fielded four determined pairs. Scout Phillips and Sophie Frank teamed up at #1 doubles, with Zoe Fish and Kaiya Jackier competing at #2. The #3 doubles team featured Mia Gantz and Gillie Charnas, and rounding out the lineup was Ryan Schwartz and Grace Kleinfelt at #4 doubles.

Although the final score favored South Lyon East, the FJA athletes showed continued progress and determination throughout the match. Head Coach Monica Stark praised the team’s development, saying, “The girls are getting better each day.” Alongside Coach Larry Stark, the coaching duo continues to guide the Jaguars with encouragement and a commitment to steady improvement.

The Jaguars won’t have to wait long for their next opportunity, as they return to the courts today to host Walled Lake Western, once again at Drake Sports Park.
